Prizes 1900 to 1907 



Prizes were first awarded in 1900, there being a first and second. 
In 1903 another prize was added. These prizes were awarded 
for the three best paintings in oil without regard to subject; $300 
to the first; $200 to the second; and $100 to the third best. 

The prizes have been awarded as follows: 

1900. 1st prize, In the Mirror, Edmund C. Tarbell. 

2d prize, The End of the Day, W. Sergeant Kendall. 

1901. 1st prize, An Arrangement, Alfred H. Maurer. 
2d prize, A Fairy Tale, W. Sergeant Kendall. 

1902. 1st prize, Portrait of a Young Man, George Louis Car- 

specken. 
2d prize, Fisherman of Finisterre, Charles Hopkinson. 

1903. 1st prize, The North Atlantic, Charles Herbert Woodbury. 
2d prize, The Old Quarry, Winter, W. L. Lathrop. 

3d prize, Returning Home, Gifford Beal. 

1904. 1st prize, Rehearsal in the Studio, Edmund C. Tarbell. 

2d prize, Portuguese Fisher Boys, Charles W. Hawthorne.
